Have you ever been fearful that God won’t come through for you? Have you ever felt between a rock and a hard place and you can’t see any way out?
Maybe you feel trapped in your current circumstance causing you to wonder how you’ll ever overcome. Maybe you’ve seen God come through before, but you’re not sure how He’ll ever possibly work this situation out. In times of hardest trial, it is beneficial to recall all God has done in the past. Think back on how God has worked before. Recall how He has led you through what you thought was impossible, and how He always helped make a way, even if it wasn’t how you intended. You’ll probably see how He protected you from what you thought you wanted. I’ll list a few of the many miracles we find in Scripture below as well.
Examples of God doing the impossible:
- Moses parting of the Red Sea
- Jesus feeding the multitudes
- Providing the widow with oil and flour when there was little left
- The incredible birth of Jesus
- Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego’s preservation in the fiery furnace
- Jesus walking on water
- Jesus healing the sick and raising the dead back to life
- Jesus’ resurrection
- Sarah having a baby in her old age
- The amazing creation of the world
- Balaam’s talking donkey
- Jonah surviving the whale
These were miracles that weren’t just events we read about, but real miracles that actually occurred on earth. It sometimes can be easy to recite the miracles God performed, but take a moment to truly put yourself in each miracle as if it was you experiencing it. Think back to ways you have seen God perform miracles in your own life. Often times we see God’s most miraculous provision in times of deepest need. When we are desperate need for God is when we find Him display His greatest provision.
Are you between a rock and a hard place and don’t know how God will make a way? What is that one thing that causes you fear, anxiety or leaves you craving for God’s provision that you know you cannot do it on your own?
Why did you lead me here?
In times of feeling between a rock and a hard place, we can often look to God and wonder why He led us to such a dark and scary place. Times of suffering often leave us feeling isolated and alone. I can imagine Moses must have wondered why God led him to take the Israelites to the Red Sea, only to see a dead end, with no way of escape from the Egyptians. With the Israelites looking to Moses, he must have felt pressure to protect them and worry that God knew what was best when He didn’t understand how God would make a way. Maybe you feel helpless in your situation, leaving you feeling incapable of any control to overcome the trial you are in.
God is capable
Job experienced intense loss, all within a few short hours. His world came crashing down and everything he once knew had changed. Although, one thing remained the same and allowed Job to press on through the deep grief and loss he experienced. Job knew he could rely on God for strength and perseverance. After all Job endured through, he still proclaimed that God was capable of doing the impossible, and that nothing God does can ever be thwarted, delayed or defeated. God’s plan always will be established.
Job 42:2
I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted.
Even in life’s most uncertain of situations, we can rest that God has led us to this place with great intentionality, purpose and intention. This unforeseeable circumstance is no surprise to God. He is not concerned with how this will turn out. He will make a way, and it will not be thwarted. It may not be easy, it may not be how you expected, but when it’s God’s way, it will be most purposeful. God never forsakes His children. He never will cause difficulty to harm, only to refine.
If God led you to this place, and you see no possible way out, He will rescue you and make a way. He is capable of making rivers even in the driest of wastelands.
Isaiah 43:16-19
I am the Lord, who opened a way through the waters, making a dry path through the sea. I called forth the mighty army of Egypt with all its chariots and horses. I drew them beneath the waves, and they drowned, their lives snuffed out like a smoldering candlewick.
But forget all that—it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.
When you find yourself worrying about how to find a way out of your hard place, take it to the Lord in prayer. Prayer is a tool God has given us to help us submit our needs, worries and requests over to God. It is an act of submission and reliance on God, admitting we are not capable on our own.
